The Moore Log: Final Fantasy II

Finally doing another one of these. When did I say do I want to finish this series? December? We’ll see about that!

So, last time, I was talking about the original Final Fantasy game and even how I got introduced into the whole RPG business. Today, we can just skip all of this and lay the focus on just the game. What do we have? What does the title say?

Oh, no… please, I don’t even…

I said no! Damn it… You see, back in the NES era, game developers had the habit to make sequels very different from the successful originals that even made the sequels possible, like Zelda II: The Adventure of Link – Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest – Waldo II: The Great Waldo Search – and of course Final Fantasy II: Not So Final Anymore, eh?! They were probably under the impression people don’t want to play the same game twice. Well good thing they learned from that mistake because now we have good games like Super Mario Warfare 3: Ultimate Edition now with additional DLC you can buy right when the game comes out!!! Who needs difference?!?!

Random News: Travel Issues and Heart Attacks

Ah, finally! Back from my vacation! (Wait, why did I say finally? I didn’t want to go away from there! School uniforms!!!) So, I was in England for ten days (school uniformseverywhere…), made my way through places like Liverpool, York, Stratford, Bath, Torquay, Exmouth, Stonehenge, Brighton and – of course – London.

And this brings me to this small article, the very first that is not (entirely) about media technology. Huh! What’s going on in here?! … The walls are getting closer…!

Just kidding. About the walls, I mean.

So what is it that’s important enough to break the tradition of writing only about video games and movies here? Well, first of all, this was bound to happen. Yes, we are writing a ton of video game related blogs (when we feel like it), but in the beginning, this blog was simply supposed to be a collection of our opinions on… just about anything. That’s how the Internet works, boys and girls, everyone has a shitty opinion, except you!

The Moore Log: Final Fantasy I

Hey, Homura! Long TIME, no see! … Wait, wrong time travel joke.

Before going past this point, read this post to understand what I’m doing here why. Basically I’m just a fanperson, writing the memories of his favorite game series down, while trying not to spaz out too much from all this.

Ah, the very first Final Fantasy title, simply called Final Fantasy. As you can see, I’m going to talk about these games in the order they were released, not the order I played them in. In fact, this was the last Final Fantasy I finished (not counting XIII-2), so that’s a bit of an irony there. A kind warning: In the next few paragraphs I’m just going to talk about how I even got to play this game, so if you want to skip that and read about the game, just scroll down past the picture. Pictures will always serve as some sort of milestone in these posts.

Random News: Lightning! That is all!

Finally, today is the day. While I know that Final Fantasy XIII receives a lot of hate, I also know that both this game and it’s sequel are generally well liked (suck it, haters). And now, during this whole event around the 25th Anniversary of Final Fantasy, the next and final sequel in the XIII-subseries was announced, being titled Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Personally, this title reminds me of those cheesy, unnecessary movie sequels like Alien: Resurrection. Could’ve just called it Alien 4, no? … Actually, no, because it’s not a direct sequel. WELL, now that I think about it, it also reminds me of something else. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Kind of looks like… Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. And guess what, that’s almost what it is.

The Moore Log: Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary

Hey y’all Space Monkies! (If you get this reference, it means you actually had to use a -helpful- walkthrough for a Final Fantasy game during the last decade and went to the Final Fantasy wiki to get it. So… congratulations on that.)

–[Legal note: This user is in no way affiliated to BlueHighwind or any of his work. He doesn’t even like that guy.]

Soooo, now that I have this silly business of putting an obscure reference into this post behind me, let’s return to the topic. The 25th Anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise is drawing near! As… as the title suggests, just in case you didn’t notice. And of course, a celebration takes place… in Tokyo. This weekend. Which is why I won’t be there. That, and I probably have no internal contacts to bring me in either. Maybe I can sneak in… Yeeeeeaaaah…
